Dissent is the Sydney University Law Society’s annual social justice journal, and provides an important opportunity for students to have their work published on a range of social justice issues related to both domestic and international law. It also encourages students to undertake research into controversial or little-known areas that may go well beyond the scope of their ordinary coursework.
Each year the journal is centred around a particular theme, which contributors then draw inspiration from in crafting a submission. These range in form from scholastic essays to opinion pieces and even creative works. Entries from students and staff, both within and outside the Law School, are encouraged.
Dissent is published early in Semester 2, with an Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board appointed by the Vice-President (Social Justice) at the beginning of each year.
