Employment & Workplace Rights FAQ

Following our panel discussion with the IBA on bullying and sexual harassment in the legal profession, as well as in observance of our commitment with ALSA to combat that same issue, in 2019, SULS published its inaugural Employment & Workplace Rights FAQ canvassing issues of bullying, harassment and exploitation in the legal profession. Based on the responses we received from our survey earlier this year, we hope this short guide will assist in informing you about your basic rights and protections as you navigate the legal jobs market and the workplace itself.

While this FAQ has been proofread for accuracy by Professor Joellen Riley, former Dean and Professor of Employment Law, SULS does not purport to provide legal advice in any capacity. This guide is merely informational; it is NOT a substitute for proper and independent legal advice given by a qualified legal practitioner, and we would direct you to the legal services listed on page 6 of the FAQ should you find yourself in need of them.

We hope this guide will be the first among many advances in our fight against bullying, harassment and exploitation in the legal profession.
