Welcome to the Sydney University Law Society (SULS)!
The Sydney University Law Society, or SULS, is the primary association for law students at the University of Sydney. We are proud to be the oldest law society in Australia, having been established in 1902. Over the years, SULS has grown to represent over 2,000 members and run more than 100 events annually. Our goal is to help you not just get through Law School but thrive so whether you are eager to compete, publish, advocate, or simply find your footing, SULS is designed to meet you where you are.
Alongside providing opportunities for personal, professional and academic development, advocacy is at the heart of SULS. As the representative body for law students, we work alongside, and on behalf of, our members to raise concerns and advance meaningful change at Faculty, University, state and national levels. We are here to listen and field your feedback and are keen to hear from you throughout the year on your law school experience.
Beyond this, our autonomous officers champion the interests of our diverse membership through targeted initiatives, tailored programming and portfolio-specific events designed to reflect the breadth of experiences within the law school. We are equally committed to ensuring that legal education remains accessible and inclusive. Through our Equity portfolio, we seek to reduce financial barriers and promote practical support mechanisms so that every student is equipped to participate fully in law school life. If you require financial assistance for textbooks to event tickets, SULS has many routes of support available.
In 2026, I am incredibly proud to lead a passionate and thoughtful Executive team committed to serving you. Together, we are focused on ensuring that every law student finds a way to benefit from SULS. This year, increasing feedback mechanisms and member input in decision making forums is central to us, you will also see expanded initiatives across all portfolios as we strengthen our ability to work for every law student.
You can find out more about the Executive’s priorities for the year, and the many ways you can get involved on this website.
Applications for SULS committees open in Semester 1 and are available to all law students, regardless of year or degree stage. If you have any questions about a particular portfolio or would like to learn more about getting involved, we encourage you to reach out to a member of the Executive, we would love to hear from you.
