Educational Programs
For students who are new to competitions or want some extra support, we strongly encourage you to get involved with our education programmes throughout the year. These include our Introductory Programs: run for moots and all the skills competitions; our Intermediate Programs: for those looking to step into the Inter-varsity sphere; and our First Year Crash Courses: an intensive day exclusively for first years to develop skills and socialise.
Our Introductory and Intermediate Programs run for 2-4 weeks and only require a few hours of commitment each week. As they run before or alongside the start of internal competitions, this is a great way to learn how to compete before actually starting a new competition.
Registration for education programs normally open at the beginning of each semester.
Introductory Programs
Our Introductory Programs are held in both Semester 1 and 2, and are run for mooting, negotiations, client interviewing and witness examination. Mentees will attend weekly mentoring sessions run by an experienced senior competitor, and will learn the foundations of each skill.
The Introductory Skills Programs generally run for 2 weeks, whilst the Introductory Mooting Program runs for around 4 weeks and includes an optional final moot.
Registrations generally open at the beginning of each Semester. There will be opt-in streams for each Program to cater for LLB I, JD I, ESL and Beginners. We will try our best to accommodate your preferences!
Intermediate Coaching Programs
Our Intermediate Coaching Programs are to begin in the Winter Break and are run for mooting and negotiations. They are aimed at students who have participated in a couple moots or negotiations competitions and want to prepare for inter-varsity competitions. Mentoring sessions are run by experienced competitors with inter-varsity and international experience, and are a great way to up-skill. This year, the program also intends to offer the opportunity for participants to train alongside inter-varsity teams.
Registrations generally open at the start of the Winter Break.
Women’s Mooting Program
This is a four-week program run in Semester 2. The WMP is open to all female- and non-binary- identifying Sydney Law School students and caters to all levels of mooting experience. Registrations open at the end of Semester 1. More information on the Women’s Mooting Program can be found here.
