Social events are an integral part of student life. Our events are designed to help students maintain a healthy work-life balance, foster new friendships, and promote a more inclusive and enjoyable law school experience in an environment that is both fun and safe.
We strive to diversify the social calendar by expanding the range of events offered, both small and large-scale, to cater to a wide variety of students, including LLBs, JDs, Master’s students, and those studying both full-time and part-time.
Through our social events, we aim to ensure there is always something exciting to look forward to beyond classes and assessments.

First Year LLB Law Camp
“This one time at Law Camp…”
Every year, in the early weeks of Semester One, SULS takes a group of first-year students away for a weekend of meeting, greeting, bonding and celebrating. Alongside traditions such as flip cup, beer pong, trivia and a scavenger hunt, the camp provides an opportunity to familiarise first years with the society, introduce the support services available to students, and raise awareness of key issues relevant to law students.
JD Bottomless Brunch
The JD Bottomless Brunch is the perfect way for JD students to unwind, connect and celebrate with their cohorts. Held in a a relaxed and stylish setting, this event brings JD students together over bottomless drinks and brunch favorites, providing the perfect opportunity to socialise, and form and strengthen friendships at the start of first semester.
Book Club
New to the SULS social calendar, book club offers students a relaxed and inclusive space to unwind, connect and engage beyond the classroom. Designed for those who enjoy thoughtful discussion and a casual social setting, SULS’ book club will bring students together to explore a range of readings while fostering community, conversation and connection within law school.
Law Cruise
Law Cruise, in collaboration with UNSW’s Law Society, is one of SULS’ most anticipated social events, offering students a chance to unwind and celebrate on the water. Featuring music, drinks and unbeatable harbour views, the cruise provides a fun and relaxed environment to socialise with friends, meet new people and enjoy Sydney from a different perspective. It is the perfect mid-semester escape from the pressures of law school.
Law Ball
Law Ball is the highlight of the SULS social calendar each year. It is a night where we dress to the nines, smile for the cameras and enjoy an evening of glammed-up celebration. Following a three-course meal and plenty of time on the dance floor, the night continues with an after-party, so keep an eye out for the Save the Date in Semester Two.
Final Year Dinner
Set in the iconic Great Hall, the Final Year Dinner is a time to reflect on and celebrate the memories made throughout law school. Final-year students are invited to reminisce with their cohort over dinner and drinks, sharing laughs, stories and milestones one last time. Blackacre is also distributed during the evening as a final memento of the law school journey.
