Social Justice Portfolio: Community Legal Education Project Co-Chair (1 Position)

The Community Legal Education Project (CLEP) is a new SULS initiative that provides young people from a disadvantaged background with basic legal knowledge and understanding of their rights. Student volunteers will attend high schools to deliver modules on topics such as police powers, drug use and employment rights.

We are looking for 1 Co-Chair to run the CLEP in 2020. They will sit on the Social Justice Committee and will work alongside Deaundre, the Vice President (Social Justice) throughout the year. As this is a new initiative, the Co-Chair will have significant input into the overall direction of the program. You will be:

  • Developing the curriculum, educational outcomes and modules

  • Contacting schools, community organisations and other external parties to organise sessions and long-term partnerships for the program

  • Managing a team of volunteers, including recruitment, training and rostering

We are seeking a person who:

  • Has a strong vision and ideas for the program in its inaugural year

  • Has strong research and writing skills, ideally with experience writing educational content

  • Is dedicated, reliable and can commit significantly to the program in 2020

  • Has a demonstrated passion for social justice advocacy, activism and education

International Portfolio: Editor of International Student Guide (5-6 positions)

The International Student Portfolio is looking for 5-6 editors to edit the 2020 SULS International Guide. We are looking for editors who aspire to practice law internationally or domestically as international student, understand international student issues and developments within law faculty and are passionate about international students’ welfare and advocacy.

This guide will be distributed in print and digitally. Past experience in publishing and editing will be looked favourably upon, but is not necessary as training will be provided.

Competitions Portfolio: Intervarsity Co-ordinators (2 Positions)

Intervarsity competitions are a vital part of SULS Competitions, being a chance to represent the University’s great competitions tradition on a wider stage, as well as for individual competitors to gain valuable experience by learning from other universities.

In order to make our intervarsity’s the best they can be, we are looking for 2 Intervarsity Co-ordinators. You will be working with our Competitions Directors to manage competitions registration, book flights and accommodation for SULS teams, and assist with any other intervarsity related tasks that may arise on an ad hoc basis.

We are seeking people who are:

  • Familiar with SULS Competitions, whether as a competitor, convenor or judge

  • Able to make time in their schedule to physically attend intervarsities that the University hosts

  • Organised and responsive, being able to respond to inquiries and pass on information promptly

  • Team players, who can work well together as well as with our Competitions Directors and Judging Coordinators

  • Well-versed in basic Microsoft Office tasks, being able to work autonomously to create documents such as Google Forms for registration

Design Portfolio: Designer (2 Positions)

We are seeking 2 Designers to assist with the work necessary to be delivered before the beginning of the semester. The role entails designing publications, social media assets and a new merch line, under the assistance and supervision of Daniel, the Design Director. You will have direct involvement and be able to push forth your own ideas and see them come to life.

We are seeking people who:

  • Are creative and interested in design and fashion

  • Are highly organised and reliable

  • Are available over the summer

  • Have good time management skills

Previous experience with Adobe Creative Cloud software, like Photoshop and inDesign, is beneficial. However, if you are a creative person interested in design and eager to learn new skills, please do not hesitate to apply!
